Long after the winds and rain from Hurricane Matthew have stopped and long after the news media has stopped reporting about the after-effects of this storm, the children of Haiti still need our help.
The devastation that Hurricane Matthew caused is extensive and it will take many, many months (if not years) to rebuild homes, schools and churches.
This time of year tends to get busy for all of us. Before it gets too busy, I’d like us as a blogger network to do something special for #GivingTuesday that will benefit the children of Haiti.
This year #GivingTuesday takes place on November 29. Will you take some time this week to write a blog post for this special day?
Here’s some ideas to inspire your #GivingTuesday blog post,
- Share this video on your blog and social media accounts. Ask friends and family to join you in praying for the people of Haiti.
Other ways your friends and family can help is to donate to Compassion’s Haiti Disaster Hurricane fund. Hyperlink to this exact link from your blog post (or social media accounts).
Or, ask friends and family sponsor a child in Haiti.
If you’ve joined the Compassion Bloggers Rewards Program, don’t forget to use your tracking code when asking your readers to sponsor a child in Haiti.
If you have not yet joined the Compassion Bloggers Rewards Program and would like to, you may sign up here.
- Share the impact of Haitian teenager, Angeline’s story on your blog.
Often people relate best to the story of one person. Embed this video in your blog post and share how Angeline’s Hurricane Matthew experience impacted you.
Ask your readers to share their reaction to her story in the comments on your blog.
- Share a photo of the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew
Use a photo from this password protected page to inspire a post about the current need in Haiti. Ask your blog readers to share your post on their social media accounts. You may find the password in your latest Compassion Bloggers Network email.
Finally, when you share your blog post on social media please be sure to use the hashtags #GivingTuesday and #CompassionBloggers.
