“Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.” – Psalm 100:4-5

The holiday’s are here! Whether you’re excited about the festivities or not, this year has flown by in a flourish of masks, political debates and time spent at home. It landed us smack dab in the middle of another holiday season, but a whole month dedicated to thanksgiving might, frankly, sound pretty bogus right now.

There’s a myth in some Christian circles that if we’re struggling with discouragement, doubt or feelings of hurt or sadness, it may be due to the fact that we’re not being grateful. But in reality, the Lord welcomes us to fall apart at his feet.

This month, we invite you to write about how the Lord has been faithful to you on both the mountaintops and in the valleys. What are you grateful for that might not be normal dinner table conversation?

  • Discuss your current state of thanksgiving. Is that frame of mind easy or difficult to come by right now?
  • Share bible verses/passages that speak to biblical truths about thanksgiving.

Since we are a family of child advocates, consider sharing your insights from the perspective of Compassion’s ministry and adding a link for child sponsorship.

“Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.” – Psalm 106:1
